Dr. Margaret Fauver (DVM, VSMT, CoAC), was certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (VSMT) in 2018 after going through a rigorous educational course in Functional Anatomy, Neuroanatomy and Manipulation Techniques at the Healing Oasis in Sturtevant, WI. Sometimes referred to as animal chiropractic, VSMT is something that can be used to treat a multitude of problems in your horse, including back and neck soreness/stiffness, subtle and not-so-subtle performance issues, and some types of neurologic problems. Sometimes VSMT is used as a stand-alone therapy, and sometimes it is combined with traditional veterinary approaches such as anti-inflammatories, joint injections, and supplements/nutraceuticals. Because Dr. Fauver is a veterinarian, she can take a whole-horse approach to diagnosing and treating your animal. The first time a horse is seen it is typically given a lameness and neurologic exam before proceeding with any needed adjustments to ensure your horse has a complete diagnostic and treatment plan. Adjustments can be performed at the clinic or at the farm. The first exam typically will last about an hour, and any adjustments needed after that usually take 30 minutes or less. Please call today with any other questions you may have or to set up an appointment for your horse.
